Private Practice

Psychological Services Grounded in Experience

Dr. Amitay has worked with clients in hospital settings and private practice since 2001. He provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families, as well as psychological, personality and intelligence assessments.

He works with clients ranging from their late teens through the senior years and supports people facing a broad range of personal, emotional and interpersonal concerns.

These may include challenges related to:

  • School and work
  • Relationships and family
  • Sexuality and intimacy
  • Finances and major life transitions
  • Depression, anxiety and emotional well-being

Dr. Amitay’s work is thoughtful, direct and responsive to the individual. Rather than applying a fixed formula, he considers each client’s circumstances, personality, goals and readiness for change.

Psychological Orientations

An Integrated Approach to Therapy

Dr. Amitay has training and experience in several established psychological orientations. Rather than relying on one fixed method, he draws from different approaches according to each client’s needs, personality and circumstances.

His work may incorporate:

  • Cognitive-behavioural therapy
  • Psychodynamic therapy
  • Acceptance and commitment approaches
  • Humanistic and client-centred therapy
  • Emotion-focused therapy
  • Interpersonal therapy
  • Object-relations therapy
  • Process-experiential therapy

This integrated approach allows therapy to remain flexible, thoughtful and responsive—grounded in psychological knowledge while focused on the individual person.
