About Dr. Amitay


Dr. Oren Amitay is a registered psychologist with extensive experience in psychotherapy, assessment, teaching, expert witness work, and media commentary. Since 1998, he has worked with a diverse range of clients and patients, from late teens to seniors, in hospital settings and private practice.

His clinical work draws from multiple therapeutic orientations, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment approaches, humanistic and client-centred therapy, emotion-focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, object-relations therapy, and process-experiential therapy.

Philosophy & Approach

Life can feel like the ocean: unpredictable, powerful, and at times overwhelming. Dr. Amitay’s approach to psychotherapy is grounded in helping people understand the forces affecting them, develop resilience, and move through life with greater clarity and agency.

Psychotherapy

Provides individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy for clients ranging from late teens to seniors, drawing from multiple therapeutic approaches to support emotional, relational, and life challenges.

Conducts psychological, personality, intelligence, and parenting capacity assessments, and has been recognized as an expert witness in Ontario courts.
